Our night at the RODEO- in pictures

So, maybe I was just a little more excited to spend time with my hunky cowboy and little girly than watching the actual rodeo.

Some things to note-
  • Before the rodeo we went to dinner with my dad, little brother, sister and her husband.
  • Jocelyn kept saying we were watching the camels???
  • She got to eat lots of sweets, which is rare, so she loved every second of it.
  • Casey makes one good looking cowboy
  • We got to go with my family, but we were only 2 rows away from Casey's.
  • Free tickets from the hospital because my mom's a nurse, PLUS $5 to spend at concessions!
  • Jocelyn's dress is made from my dad's old shirt and her boots were Casey's when he was little.
  • Jocelyn needed to go to the potty near the end and actually made it in time. (I was concerned about this and had put a pull up on her. When she asked to go potty, being the great mom I am, I just told her to go in her pull up... But she insisted and I finally took her and she made it!)

Finch Reunion

We went to our third family reunion in the last week.  Can you believe we fit in all three?? I'm so happy we did! It's fun to see all the family.  This reunion was at Palisades down by Manti. I remembered my camera this time so here we go:

The Lake
Family Pictures- The siblings (10 total), Our immediate family that was there, EVERYONE!

Our Tent
Me, Case, and Joce slept in a 1-2 person backpacking tent that barely fits a full air mattress.  We were snug as a bug all together in there. Jocelyn loved sleeping by mommy and daddy. She slept the whole night and didn't wake us up moving too much.  The only problem was she kept scooting up to the top and her head hung off a bit (as in the picture below).  This was our first time camping as a family.

Jocelyn Sayings and Doings...

Lately:

- Coming up to a red light she said, "It's red. We have to stop."
- Driving by Papa Cowley's work (Novell), " That's where papa cowley works. I remember that!"
- While Casey was driving he occasionally looks back at Jocelyn.  She said, "Daddy look at the road not Jocelyn!"
- Coming up a big hill the engine revved and she said, "Oh, I better hold on." Then held onto her car seat handles.
- After her bath one night I drained the water while she was still in it and she said, "oh (sad voice), I wanted to feel like a fish in the water."
- Loves to play the game got your nose/lips/cheeks/eyebrow/ear etc.
- Also loves to play the game put something in your hands shake it up, then guess which hand it's in.
- Tonight she combined the two games. She grabbed at my belly, put it in her hands, shook them, and said, "Which one? Pick one Mommy. I got your belly (beddy)." She's crazy.
- She understands teasing more than an average two year old (thanks to her daddy) and constantly does things to tease me and Casey. Today she was helping me get drinks out of the cooler full of ice.  After we were done getting them out she came up to me and placed both hands on my leg, laughed and said, "cold, huuuh?" Then kept doing it over and over.

The thing with two year olds is they have a personality now and I love that! But... they also throw tantrums because they know what they want. Just a couple memorable ones-

- Sometimes (okay, almost always) we struggle with getting her into her carseat without an issue.  Casey told her she better get in her carseat so she can be safe. She said, "I DON'T WANT TO BE SAFE!"
- Threw a 20-30 minute tantrum yelling, "MOM, MOM!!! COME BACK HERE!" She was hitting and kicking the door and walls.  We happened to be at Casey's parents house and Jessica got home during the tantrum and said it sounded just like a teenager yelling at her mom.  She then videotaped it. haha.
(fyi- I put her on timeout for 2 minutes.  After the 2 minutes, I go in and say, "It's been 2 minutes. You were on time out for... Tell mommy sorry. You can come out now." She usually continues her tantrum way past the 2 minutes.  She eventually calms down, happily comes out, gives me a hug, and says sorry in an extra cheery voice. So funny! I just can't stay upset with her for long.)

4th of July Weekend

On Friday night we went up to Casey's parents cabin for his dad's side of the family reunion.  We were there through Sunday and loved every minute of it.  We enjoyed wonderful company, took naps, put a puzzle together, ate s'mores, watched fireworks, and did a whole lot of nothing! Casey played some basketball with the uncles and stayed up way to late playing nintendo.  Jocelyn had a blast playing with cousins (Casey's littlest cousins)., and the fireworks were a big hit.  She kept saying the colors as they went off.  At first we were asking her what color they were, then she was just saying them without us asking, and then she starting asking us, "what color that was?" They kept her entertained for a good 10 minutes then she said, "let's go home now."

Sunday afternoon we headed over to my dad's side of the family reunion.  Luckily, the two reunions were only 45 minutes away from eachother so it wasn't hard to make it to both.  There we enjoyed seeing family that we only see about once a year, played some frisbee golf, and went rock climbing.  We were only there until Monday night but we had a great time!

This Thursday and Friday we have yet another reunion! This one is for Casey's mom's side of the family.  It's camping and should be alot of fun.

(ps- I went to take a picture up at the cabin and realized I didn't have an sd card.  Sad day.  No pictures for now. Hopefully I can get some from other people and add them on here.)

In other news:  This last week I started feeling my baby boy kick!! YAHOO! I love that feeling!

BABY!!!

We are so excited for baby number 2 due December 7!

We had an ultrasound last week to find out the gender and it's a BOY! The ultrasound guy was really nice and checked everything else as well and it all looked great.

Casey is thrilled, and I'm not at all surprised to find out it's a boy.  I just knew it was and have had many dreams about my baby boy.  Jocelyn likes to talk about the new baby and told me the other day, "I can rock the baby and sing rock a by don't you cry". She also told me that she wants the baby to sleep in her bed with her.  Joce is so sweet and will be the best big sister.

I feel like this pregnancy has been harder. I've been really sick (throwing up 1-3 times a day even with medicine that should help and being nauseous round the clock). I haven't made my family dinner in the last 2 months and the couple times I've tried to do the dishes I've thrown up. It's been difficult for sure.  One good thing is that I'm finally past the really tired stage and feel like I have more energy. Hopefully I get past the sick part sometime soon. December can't get here quick enough.  We've been wanting this little guy and if things had been according to "our plan" he would already be here, like in January.  haha- it's been a good reminder to us that the real plan is not in our hands but our Heavenly Father and he knows what is best for us. I feel like the year it took to get him made me alot more prepared and helps me to remember how much I want this baby when it's been a hard day.

Now, we just need a name... :)

Baby Mason Photos

My good friend Julianna had her baby boy this last Monday.  Juli was my roommate in college and she is the kind of person you can count on for anything.  She is amazing and will be such a great mommy.   I asked her if I could take some newborn pictures of Mason.  I never did them for Joce and have been so sad about it.  I still don't have a clue how to work my camera or photoshop, but I had a blast taking these pictures.  He was only a week and a day old and was so sweet! He was pretty big for a one week old since he was 9 1/2lbs when he was born. Don't you LOVE those cheeks?! Thanks for letting me do these Juli.

Ps- Thank you Pioneer Woman for the actions. I can't do a thing in photoshop without them. I'm hoping to take a class soon though.

Go Casey, Go Casey

Casey has been doing a marathon of studying this past month.  School got over in April.  In May he did an entire online class for school (and got an A!). Then in June he has been studying his butt of for the DAT, which is the dental school entrance exam!

He finally took the test yesterday and was happy with the results.  He won't let me give exact numbers on here and hates that I'm bragging about him, but I'm just so proud of all that he has accomplished! I will say that on the perceptual ability section he got in the 98th percentile, which is awesome! If all goes well we will be of to dental school in a year! Hopin, and prayin, and dreamin...
